Did you know that every library in the Jacksonville Public Library system has a Sorenson Videophone, with the Main branch having two on Laura Street?

Allow me to quote one of the librarians from the main branch, Mr Chris Eaton: "The Jacksonville Public Library system is the first public library system in the country to include this service to the Deaf and hearing impaired population in all of our locations."

Hearing people are allowed to use it, according to Mr Eaton. Good news for those that have Deaf friends they wish to be in contact with. Students don't even have to go to their colleges to use VP in their ASL labs if it's more convenient for them to visit their neighboring libraries in Jacksonville!

I have seen with my own eyes when I visited the south branch library the other day that they did indeed have a honkin' Sorenson Videophone with a smallish TV sitting right there near the computer area.

Let's hope the rest of the country follows suit!
